Here’s My Story

Gerard Carter

I’m Gerard Carter, and I can’t wait for you to get started backpacking.

You could say I’m a bit obsessed with travelling.

In my opinion, there’s nothing better than just getting out of your comfort zone and exploring, even when it doesn’t seem like the most viable option for the point you’re at in your life.

There’s always a way.

Travelling gets a bit hectic at times, especially when I have to leave my two pups with someone that I trust when I head out on extended trips.

I’m just like you: I have a “normal” job, i have obligations, and I’m part of society just like everybody else.

There’s just one difference: I travel a lot, and I don’t believe you should have to sacrifice everything to be able to do it.

That’s why I made Travel Hacking Asia. People will tell you that you have to make major sacrifices in order to travel frequently, but nothing could be farther from the truth.

If you want something bad enough, you can go and get it.

With prior knowledge, that is. You need to know how to strike deals, what you can and cannot do in other countries to avoid unnecessary expenses, and how to backpack safely through areas that you’re not familiar with.

I wanted to create the number one free, open resource for backpacking and travelling through Asia, and I’m adding to it every single day.

I began travelling in the middle of college, and I loved it so much that I found a way to make seven extra trips towards the end of the year. The airline employees practically know me by name at this point, all these years later.

Time changes, and with it, there’s new hacks and methods to travel cheaply and effectively through most Asian countries.

So let’s get you out there, one resource at a time.

Whether you need the very best gear, knowledge on how to rent cars and visit hotels in Thailand, or you’re simply curious about what you can expect from all this travelling, you’ve got Travel Hacking Asia.
